This past week, the defense team has started presenting its case in the double murder trial of Alex Murdaugh. Today, Murdaugh spent his final day on the stand answering questions from prosecutors and admitting to having fabricated stories and committing financial fraud that he will be eventually tried for.
But WHY has there been no serious discussion about how opioids may have contributed to the Murdaugh family's tragic circumstances? This means there has been no mention of how the misuse or addiction to opioids could have played a part in the events that led to the murders.
Opioids are a class of drugs that include prescription pain relievers, such as oxycodone, as well as illegal drugs, like heroin. They can be highly addictive and have been the subject of a public health crisis in the United States in recent years, with many people becoming addicted to prescription painkillers and turning to illegal opioids like heroin and fentanyl when they can no longer obtain prescription drugs.
Why is no one discussing the Opioid Crisis?!
